Dr Ignazio Giuntoli PhD

Dr Ignazio Giuntoli

School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences
Honorary Research Fellow

Ignazio is currently working on sources of predictability in the Mediterranean using weather regimes at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate in Bologna, Italy (CNR-ISAC). His research interests lie in the field of hydroclimatology, and particularly in understanding how climate variability and change alter the occurrence of extreme events like floods and droughts.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Hydrology, An assessment of the ability of global models in simulating runoff, University of Birmingham (2016)
  • MSc in Hydraulics and Sanitation, University of São Paulo, Brazil (2008)
  • BSc in Environmental Engineering, University of Florence, Italy (2005)

Other activities

Ignazio manages 4 hectares of land in the hills of Florence, Italy making olive oil and honey. He is also an avid beekeeper and a strong proponent of organic and minimum-tillage farming.
