I joined the University of Birmingham in September 2024. Prior to that, I worked as a Lecturer in Journalism at Robert Gordon University and as sessional lecturer and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Stirling and Bangor University for five years, where I taught and coordinated modules across the Media and Journalism curriculum. I am an Associate Fellow of Advance HE.
I hold a PhD in Journalism and an MRes (with Distinction) in Media Research, funded by an ESRC 1+3 interdisciplinary studentship, an MLitt (with Distinction) in Journalism, and a BA (Hons) in English. I am the recipient of the AEJMC 2024 Participatory Journalism Dissertation Award and the ICA Outstanding Dissertation in Journalism Studies Honourable Mention.
I have held leadership positions in service to postgraduate and early career researchers in the field of media and communications, as ECREA Journalism Studies Section Young Scholars Representative and Editor-in-chief of Networking Knowledge, Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network.
