Mahvish is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics, Electrical and Systems Engineering within the School of Engineering. She is the Departmental Head of Education and also the Senior Tutor for the School of Engineering. Previously, she has been the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement for the School of Engineering.

She sits on various committees within the School and wider university.

Biography

Mahvish graduated from the National Institute of Technology, India with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2006, with Distinction.

She joined Satyam Computers ltd, India as a software Engineer, where she worked for more than 3 years. While working with Satyam computers she continued her higher education towards an M.S in Software Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India. She completed her 2 years M.S course in 2009, with a CGPA of 10/10.

She taught at an Engineering College in India for a brief period of time before moving to the UK in 2010 where she continued her studies towards a PhD in automotive radar. She completed her PhD from the University of Birmingham where she was later appointed as a Lecturer in 2016.

She became a Fellow of Higher Education Academy in 2018 and subsequently a Senior Fellow of HEA in 2020. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer and subsequently to Associate Professor in 2021.

Mahvish has held a number of leadership roles in the school including 2nd Year Director and Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement. Currently, she is the Departmental Head of Education and Senior Tutor for the School of Engineering.

Research

Mahvish’s current research interests are in the area of Internet of Things and Machine Learning. She supervises a number of UG and PGT individual projects each year in the same area.
