Michail is a chair in RF Sensing Systems and Deputy Head of the Microwave Integrated Systems Laboratory (MISL) at the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering. His research interests include radar imaging, distributed radar systems, passive radar and cognitive radar.

Biography

Michail Antoniou received his BEng (Hons) degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering and his PhD degree in radar systems from the University of Birmingham in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He is currently Professor in RF Sensing Systems at the University of Birmingham, and the Deputy Head of its Microwave Integrated Systems Laboratory. In 2024 he was a visiting Professor with the La Sapienza University of Rome. His research interests include radar imaging, distributed radar systems, passive radar and cognitive radar.  He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and two book chapters, as well as delivered tutorials, workshops and guest lectures on these topics internationally.  He has served as Editorial Board Member for IEEE Sensors, he is a Senior Member of the IEEE (2018), and he Co-Chairs the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Focus Group of the UK Radar Society (EMSIG).
