Mohamad is an interdisciplinary scientist. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland and an MSc in Computational Physics from the University of Montpellier in France. Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, Mohamad worked as a research scientist and project manager in the Oil and Gas industry in Norway and Kuwait, and as a Materials Engineering research and teaching assistant at EPFL in Switzerland.

Mohamad teaches a range of courses on computational methods and mathematics across various colleges, with his research closely aligned and focusing on utilizing computational techniques to address engineering challenges. 

Mohamad has been serving as Head of Education at the University of Birmingham Dubai since 2021. He has focused on enhancing the student experience and ensured that the student voice is central to decision-making. He actively drives academic planning and operational excellence using data-driven insights to develop strategies, streamline processes, and foster continuous improvement.
