Dr. Tiffany Lachelle Smith is a comparative and international education scholar, specializing in the mobility of Black American educators, diversity in international education, and emotional transnationalism. She has over a decade of teaching experience in the United States, Morocco, and the UAE.

Biography

Dr. Tiffany Lachelle Smith is a scholar, educator, and leader in the field of international education and educational policy. She earned her Ph.D. in Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota where her research focused on the migration and mobility of Black American educators, diversity, and inclusion in international education, and the emotional aspects of transnationalism.

In her former role, Dr. Smith served as the Grants and Partnerships Manager at the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. She has over a decade of experience teaching in diverse educational settings across the United States, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. She has also taught various higher education courses in Curriculum and Instruction and Organizational Leadership.

Dr. Smith's journey as an educator has taken her to over 40 countries, enriching her understanding of global education and allowing her to build a platform that supports and empowers other educators working abroad. In addition to her academic and professional work, Dr. Smith is the creator and host of the podcast (A)Broad in Education where she explores the experiences of educational expatriates (EDPats) working internationally. Through her podcast and other initiatives, she seeks to decolonize imaginations through discussions about equity in global education.

Her work has been recognized through various awards and fellowships, including the Leadership in Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Fellowship and the University of Minnesota’s Three-Minute Thesis Competition. Her career is marked by a commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments and supporting the professional development of educators worldwide.
