Joseph is a PhD student studying at the University of Birmingham and the University of Melbourne, funded by the Melbourne Research Scholarship. He is working in the area of Diffusion Tensor Imaging, and maintains an interest in numerical optimisation and variational methods. Previously, he studied his Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham, where he completed his project titled Accelerated First Order Methods for Variational Imaging, supervised by Dr Jinming Duan, and was awarded the Computer Science School Prize. He carried out his undergraduate studies at the University of Manchester, studying mathematics, where he took a particular interest in numerical analysis and linear algebra.
