Matthew Leeke is a Professor in the School of Computer Science at The University of Birmingham. He joined Birmingham as Chair of Dependable Systems in 2022, having spent 18 years at The University of Warwick. During his time at Warwick he held leadership positions relating to teaching and student experience, including Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Admissions and Recruitment, as well as being a Founding Fellow of the Turing Institute.

His research focuses on the design of dependable systems, addressing issues such as the generation of efficient error detection mechanisms and the provision of privacy in distributed systems. He consults for a variety of civic and industrial partners on education, particularly concerning quality, standards, student recruitment and widening participation in STEMM.

He currently serves as a Subject Specialist Reviewer and Institutional Reviewer for the QAA, Lead Assessment Writer for AQA Education, and a keynote speaker for education organisations concerned with widening participation and access to higher education.
