Julie Taylor is Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a nurse scientist specialising in child maltreatment and Professor of Child Protection. Current work is focused on child sexual abuse; disclosures of abuse; neglect; and child abuse linked to faith and belief. Julie also has a strong focus on developing strategic research leadership. In 2018 she was appointed to the Research Excellence Framework for Allied Health, Dentistry, Nursing, and Pharmacy, panel UoA3 for REF 2021, having also served there for REF 2014.

  • Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science (since May 2005). EANS is an independently organised body composed of invited members who have made significant contributions to the advancement of nursing science in Europe through scholarship and research. The purpose of the Academy is to sustain a forum of European nurse scientists to develop and promote knowledge in nursing science and to recognise research and scholarly achievement in the pursuit of excellence. Regularly lead cohort of 30+ doctoral students from over 22 EU countries.

The Network made an official response to the government green paper Every Child Matters, a response accepted for publication. The Network held its first conference in 2005 and a special issue of the international journal Critical Social Policy reported the papers from the conference.
