Rhian Stevens is the lead for pre-registration international students and a lecturer in nursing at the University of Birmingham. She qualified as a children nurse in 2006 and has experience working in a range of clinical areas both nationally and internationally. Rhian teaches across the pre-registration nursing module and supports the delivery of the foundation pathway for international students wanting to progress on to nursing BNurs and MNurs.

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Burns and Plastic Nursing
  • Bsc Hons Nursing (Child)

Biography

Rhian joined the university of Birmingham in 2021 as a Lecturer in Nursing (Child Field and International) and has over 10 years experience working in higher education sector.  Prior to moving into education Rhian enjoyed a varied clinical career specialising in Children’s Burns. Rhian has experience working as a nurse internationally, working for extended periods in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi.

In addition to her lecturing role and previous clinical role Rhian has undertaken several nurse consultation roles working specifically on burns unit in Malawi. Rhian have worked on projects that have received grants via THET and the Scottish Government and supported research for WHO.  She is currently working with the nursing department of University of Cape Town and with King Fiscal Specialist Hospital, Jeddah, KSA.  She is a reviewer for Nursing Standard and has reviewed e-learner modules for RCPCH.
