Dr Sha Luo is the Research Fellow on EPSRC funded Priming Laboratory Experiments on Infrastructure and Urban System (PLEXUS) project, in where she is the main researcher of the soil-foundation structure interaction aspects of the project with a focus on integral bridges, liaise with the project’s partners (the University of Bristol and the University of Southampton) to ensure the research is integrated and complementary.
Sha has published research findings in leading international journals (like Géotechnique Letters), delivered seven international conferences (like the 19th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering), and invited to be the journal papers reviewer, (like Granular Matter, Soils and Foundations). In 2019 April, she was awarded an independent research grant from ‘Inclusion Matters’ (EPSRC, IAA) project, which is aim to encourage post-docs to establish themselves as independent researchers and explore the next steps in an academic career.
Her research activities include intelligent sensing system, soil-structure interaction analysis, micro-mechanics of soil particles, non-destructive method (acoustic emission) in the investigation of soil crushing and foundation failure, the development of particle size distribution curve measurement, structural response analysis under dynamic loading.
