Professor of Physical Chemistry

Professor Giovanni Costantini joined the University of Birmingham as Chair in Physical Chemistry in June 2022. Prior to this appointment he has been Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Warwick.

Professor Costantini has published over 100 research papers in scientific journals as well as reviews and book chapters in the fields of surface nanostructuring by ion etching, self-organised semiconductor quantum dots, supramolecular self-assembly at surfaces, 2D metal-organic networks, chiral recognition, electronic and structural properties of metal-organic interfaces, molecular corrosion inhibitors, structure and assembly of conjugated polymers, interaction of small biomolecules with surfaces.

He has received major grants from ERC, EPSRC, Leverhulme Trust and the Royal Society.

He leads the Costantini Group.
