Professor Chengang Wang is Chair in International Business at Birmingham Business School. Previously, he was a Professor at the University of Bradford School of Management where he had worked for nearly 17 years and held various academic roles, including Head of Research Centre and Director of PhD programme. His current research interests are at the intersection of international business and innovation. Chengang has published in leading journals including Journal of International Business Studies and Research Policy.

Biography

Professor Chengang Wang is Chair in International Business at Birmingham Business School. Prior to this, he held full-time academic appoints at the Economic Department, University of Manchester; School of Management, Surrey University; and School of Management, University of Bradford.

Chengang’s current research interests are at the intersection of international business and innovation. His recent work focuses on firm’s internationalisation strategy and the impact of firm internationalisation on innovation and knowledge spillovers. He has published in various journals, including Journal of International Business Studies, Research Policy, British Journal of Management, Cambridge Journal of Economics, International Business Review, Management International Review, R&D Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and World Development. Chengang also worked for a DFID (Department for International Development, UK)  funded research project - From Economic to Political Crisis: Policy-Based lending in the Middle East and North Africa, and participated in several projects sponsored by Chinese Natural Science Foundation and Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Chengang has served or is serving as a member of the Editorial Board of journals including Management and Organization Review and International Business Review.

Chengang has taught a range of subjects at various levels, including Current Issues in International Business, International Business Environment, International Business Strategy, Business Economics, Econometrics and Business Forecasting, and Research Methods.
