Dr Siti Farida joined Birmingham Business School as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Finance in September 2021. She obtained her PhD in Finance and Econometrics from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick in November 2021.

Biography

Siti joined Birmingham Business School as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Finance in September 2021. She obtained her PhD in Finance and Econometrics from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick in November 2021.

Her primary research interest is empirical corporate finance with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&As), leverage buyouts (LBOs), and innovation in relation to corporate finance. She studies what motivates acquisitions by public firms and why ownership forms of target matter for acquisition decision. In particular, Siti contributes in addressing the debate on why acquiring public target creates less shareholder values compared to acquiring private targets. She further examines the impact of acquiring public versus private targets on acquirers long-run innovation outcomes. Her recent paper in LBOs investigates how private-to-private LBOs are associated with breakthrough innovation.    

Siti  teaches Special Topics in Finance (BSc), International Economics & Financial Decision Making (BSc), and Corporate Finance (MBA).
