Stanimira joined the University of Birmingham as a Research Impact Development Partner (RIDP) in 2023. As a RIDP, she works with the College of Life and Environmental Sciences’ Impact Leads and impact-involved researchers, with senior leaders and specialist teams across the University, as well as external stakeholders, to support the development and implementation of the University’s research impact strategy through a wide range of capacity-building and portfolio-development activities.

Biography

Stanimira has been specialising in research impact development and evaluation since 2016. She has been a member of several international and UK-based research impact-related networks and has served as a Knowledge Exchange and Impact mentor. Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, Stanimira worked in research impact development at the University of Nottingham (Knowledge Exchange and Research Impact Manager at the Faculty of Social Sciences, 2019 - 2023) and Loughborough University (Senior Research and Enterprise Associate, 2016 – 2019).

Stanimira’s academic background is in developmental/educational and work/organisational psychologies, as well as psychometrics. Her work experience is a combination of academia and practice – she has been in academic, research, management, and expert roles in the public, private, and third sectors. In the UK and internationally, Stanimira has conducted a variety of academic and applied research programmes in areas such as developing and managing careers, workforce diversity management, work well-being, and performance in organisations, and (research) impact evaluation.

In 2013, Stanimira was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission for her cross-cultural research on successful ageing at work. Stanimira’s most recent research interests include cross-disciplinary research impact, education policy impact, and the impacts of new technology (AI and robotics) on work, organisations, and the wider society. She has published her research in outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Work, Aging and Retirement, Personnel Assessment and Decisions, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Oxford Handbook series. Since 2018, Stanimira has been a fellow at the UK Research and innovation Future Leaders Fellowships programme Peer Review College.
