Leanne Brown is a Teaching Fellow in English for Academic Purposes at the University of Birmingham Dubai campus. She has worked in the field of English language education and management for over 13 years in different settings across Asia, Australasia, Europe, and the Middle East. Leanne is currently completing her PhD in the Department of Linguistics and Communication.

Biography

Leanne Brown is a seasoned English language educator with over 13 years of experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Foundation studies, and study skills. She has worked in educational institutions across Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, the Netherlands, the U.K., and Qatar, showcasing her expertise in course and assessment development.

Leanne has designed and led Foundation programs and undergraduate academic English modules in the U.K., Netherlands, and Qatar. She previously served as a Course Director and Senior English Lecturer at Ulster University’s Qatar campus before joining the University of Birmingham, Dubai. Additionally, she has held leadership roles such as Centre Manager and Director of Studies in the UK.

Her research interests include academic writing, and student transition and progression in higher education.
