Dr Adeola Onasanya is a research fellow in  the Deprtment of Applied Health Sciences. She has a background in medicine, health economics, health policy and systemic design.
Adeola is interested in working on health systems and medical products (including medical devices, software applications, and technologies) design, implementation and evaluation.
She has recently worked on projects evaluating NTD implementation programs and NTD diagnostic device implementation.
Her current work focuses on inhaler sustainability and developing Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) for alpha 1-anti-trypsin deficiency.

Biography

Dr Adeola Onasanya trained as a medical doctor. Seeing the need for allocating healthcare resources efficiently and priority setting in healthcare while practising, she undertook a master's in health economics and health policy at the University of Birmingham.

Dr Adeola Onasanya has worked with several organizational types including management consulting, for-profit, not-for-profit organizations and governmental agencies. Her work has spanned several disease and thematic areas including HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Routine Immunization, Neglected Tropical Diseases, COVID-19, Telemedicine, co-creation, medical device design and implementation, user experience research, program planning and evaluation.

Current projects: Inhaler sustainability, Patient Reported Outcomes for alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency

Other activities

Adeola is a board member of Tech4Dev, a social enterprise focused on digital skills training in Africa. She also sits on the board of other NGOs focused on drug abuse and adolescent health
