Dr Sedighe Jebeli is a health economist who joined Health Economics Unit in June 2024 as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. Before this role, Sedi was working with Newcastle University as a Research Associate.

During her professional career, Sedi has collaborated with number of different international organizations including World Health Organization, RAND Europe, United Nation Development Program and United Nation University. As a health economist, she has been involved in different national and global multidisciplinary research projects concerning health technology assessment, public health and social care. In her most recent research activities, Sedi has been working on mental health, older persons' care and community-based care investigating these areas in terms of economic benefits, policy making and service delivery.

PhD in Health Economics, 2021, Iran University of Medical Sciences: economic evaluation of a mental health service model in Iran.

Teaching

Co-leading the “Policy and Economics of Healthcare Delivery” module for the MSc Health Economics & Health Policy program.

Research

Sedi is currently working on projects within Health Economics Unit including the WISE project investigating how schools and workplaces invest resources in mental health and wellbeing.

Sedi's own research interest is economic evaluation methods once applied in public health and mental health interventions to estimate population level health gains. She is currently working on a project in Northeast of England using the SROI approach to estimate the long-term benefits of a community-based care model. Using this approach could inform resource allocation decision making at both local and national level.
