Reasonable or unreasonable adjustments for working bodies? The experience of work as a disabled person in Britain

Emma’s research focuses on the employment experiences of disabled people in both private and public sector workplaces. Her research interests lie primarily within disability research, grounded within sociological understandings amidst a contemporary focus upon policies, legislation and lived experiences. A broader focus and area of interest rests within inclusive research methodologies and conducting ethical research. Emma’s most recent research projects have focused upon disabled student’s experiences of stigma within the university setting and disabled perspectives on equality, focusing upon equality legislation relevance within the UK.

Biography

Emma is currently undertaking doctoral research in the area of disability and employment, focusing specifically on the disabled experiences of paid work. Emma has previously engaged in research projects which have focused upon conscious and unconscious bias, disabled students’ experiences of stigma within the university setting and disabled people’s perspectives on equality (UK legislation) to name a few.

Previously Emma has engaged professionally in roles with West Midlands Police including working within the Equality, Diversity and Human Rights team.

Emma is keen to engage with research projects that focus upon disability, accessibility, inclusivity and lived experiences (including of policies and legislation).
