Group of people, some with disabilities

This is a practical workshop with about how to co-produce and share research findings with people with lived experience. It will focus on creative and accessible methods, such as drama, dance and music.

These sessions will bring together researchers, voluntary and community organisations and will be co delivered with people who have lived experience of disabilities.  Sessions will be fun and interactive and will encourage participants to learn new skills and practice these alongside people with lived experience of communicating in a range of different ways.  It will offer a safe space to think about a variety of methods to create and share knowledge. 

The events are run by Communicate2U, in association with the University of Birmingham, and the Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC)  as part of a wider project about Building Capacity in Social Care Research in Birmingham Building capacity in participatory research in social care in Birmingham - University of Birmingham.  

Communicate 2U is a social enterprise in Birmingham working with people who may find traditional word-based communication challenging e.g. people with a learning disability, people who don't have English as a first language, people with sensory impairment, people who use augmentive communication strategies (such as voice communication aids) and others. 

The sessions will take place at BVSC and are free of charge but must be booked in advance via Eventbrite on the links above.
