A working knowledge of algebraic groups and their representation theory is essential for modern-day researchers in algebra and geometry. In this 5-day research school, funded by the London Mathematical Society, participants will be able to develop a deep understanding of this core area of mathematics. Through 3 lecture series of 5 lectures each, delivered by internationally-renowned mathematicians, participants will learn about the structure, geometry, and representation theory of algebraic groups.

The lecture series will be:

  • Representation theory of reductive groups and categorification(Jonathan Brundan, University of Oregon)
  • Geometry arising from algebraic groups (Martina Lanini, Università di Roma "Tor Vergata")
  • Modular representation theory of reductive algebraic groups (Simon Riche, Université Clermont Auvergne)
