- Location
- University of Ulster (Belfast City Campus)
- Dates
- Friday 23 November 2018 (12:30-14:00)
Following the repeal of the 8th Amendment in the Republic of Ireland and ongoing discussion of abortion law reform in Northern Ireland, this round-table event seeks to stimulate discussion of these developments from the perspective of activist and non-legal actors.
It will explore the contribution such actors have made towards reform and explore lessons which may be drawn for other jurisdictions and law reform struggles. Participants include Kellie O'Dowd and Emma Campbell (Alliance for Choice), Jane Christie, Sarah Ewart, Goretti Horgan, Ailbhe Smyth (Together for Yes), Erin Darcy (In Her Shoes) and Linda Kavanagh (Abortion Rights Campaign).
Discussion will be facilitated by organisers Fiona de Londras (Birmingham), Mairead Enright (Birmingham), Catherine O'Rourke (Ulster University) and Kathryn McNeilly (Queen's University Belfast).
The roundtable is funded by the University of Ulster School of Law and Birmingham Law School. The transcript with an accompanying article will be published in a special supplement of the Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly.
All are very welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided.
