POSTPONED DUE TO INDUSTRIAL ACTION

On Wednesday 22 February (16.00-17.30) we will be discussing how Classicists in schools and universities can best work together to develop meaningful opportunities for both students and teachers.

We will be joined by Alice Case (Classics for All North), Arlene Holmes-Henderson (KCL, Advocating Classics Education; Oxford, Classics in Communities), Alice König (St Andrews), and Polly Stoker (Winchester). Together, we will explore how the model of ‘outreach’ can be developed as a dialogue between higher and secondary education, and how such a development might benefit the discipline as a whole. An additional issue that we would like to explore in this Roundtable is how conversations about Classics between academics, students, teachers, and pupils can address and potentially tackle some challenging issues that British society faces nowadays.

This event has been organised by the Department of Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology in collaboration with the Birmingham Research Institute for History and Cultures (BRIHC).
