August 2022 marked 50 years since Ugandan Asians were expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin. In response to this anniversary, this event seeks to create a space in which to reflect upon how histories of that event have been written and re-written, and to consider how they should be written now and in the future.

At this event, we  will be joined by historians of migration Saima Nasar (Bristol) and Becky Taylor (UEA) who will consider and converse on these questions.

This event has been organised by the Centre for Modern and Contemporary History (MCH) in collaboration with the Birmingham Research Institute for History and Cultures (BRIHC).
