BRIHC In Public Event: What is housing poverty, who does it affect and how?

What happens if you bring together an anthropologist, a modern historian, a medieval historian and a historian of ancient Rome to discuss housing poverty in the past and present? In this public session, we’ll find out?

Chris Callow (History, Birmingham), Hannah Cornwell (Classics, Archaeology and Ancient History, Birmingham), Nick

Crowson (History, Birmingham) and Marco di Nunzio (Anthropology and African Studies, Birmingham) will consider different levels of homelessness and housing poverty and how they affect people in different ways. By using a range of examples from past and present we want to start to explore the full diversity of experiences to think through what we might mean by ‘housing poverty’ and what might need to happen to eradicate it. Everyone welcome.

This free event has been organised by the Birmingham Research Institute for History and Cultures (BRIHC) at the University of Birmingham and will be taking place online. The Zoom link for the event will be sent to registered participants the day before and on the day of the event.
