With the generous support of the educational charity Classics For All, the Department of Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology maintains the Birmingham and Midlands Schools’ Classics Network, which provides support for state primary and secondary schools in the area to explore and learn about Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilisation/Ancient History.
The department also works closely with the Birmingham and Midlands Branch of the Classical Association to offer opportunities and enrichment for teachers and pupils in our city and our region.
Each year we host the BMCA’s Autumn and New Year’s lectures for 6th formers and general audiences, and the 6th form conference in March. We also run the Ovid in the West Midlands Competition each year.
The department’s academic lead for outreach and schools liaison is Elena Theodorakopoulos.
The Classics for All Network coordinator is Hebe Barlow.
