The School of History and Cultures offers a unique range of undergraduate and postgraduate study and research opportunities.
It builds on the strengths of its constituent Departments: History, the Department of African Studies and Anthropology, and the Department of Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology.
Although currently the School offers programmes from its constituent parts, the new school and college environment provides the opportunity to look ahead to the future, to take advantage of new opportunities and directions in historical and cultural research and teaching. Our departments have top class research and teaching scores, supported by staff who are renowned in their fields.
History, whilst building upon a broad and excellent reputation, also offers new directions for those interested in:

African Studies and Anthropology is unique in its interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and research in and of Africa, attracting students (and academics) from all parts of Africa, Europe, America and the Caribbean. DASA offers expertise in:
