Daniel Munday

A History of Autocracy Promotion, 1963 - 2018

Daniel is undertaking doctoral research into the process of autocracy promotion; external support given to recipient non-Western authoritarian regimes designed to bolster and stabilise their rule. Central to this project’s understanding of autocracy promotion is how recipient regimes can utilise agency-leveraging strategies to shape how autocracy promotion is undertaken. The project demonstrates how autocracy promotion is a mutually constructed phenomenon, shaped both by external supporters and recipient regimes themselves.
