Title of PhD: Another New Regionalism? Landscapes of economic governance in the coalition era
Supervisors: Professor John Bryson, Dr Julian Clark
Jacob Salder is conducting research in relation to economic governance and approaches to the implementation and delivery of economic policy in the light of the changing environment under the Coalition Government.
The governance of economic policy has seen radical changes since the change of Government in 2010, primarily through the dissolution of the Regional Development Agencies and the introduction of the Local Enterprise Partnerships in their place. The context for this research is the Southern Staffordshire area. Working with CASE partner the Southern Staffordshire Partnership the project will look at ways of analyzing and interpreting economic geography and economic relations across political territories, at political and economic relations within the designated Birmingham, Solihull and Southern Staffordshire LEP area, and how the changing onus and decentralization of economic governance affects interpretations of territory and relations between the private and public sector.
