Title of PhD: Evolution of Nitrogen buffering Capacity in pristine watersheds
Supervisors: Professor Alexander Milner, Dr Rebecca Bartlett
Edward Malone is undertaking doctoral research into the evolution of nitrogen cycling in recently de-glaciated watersheds in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. The primary aim of the project is to assess the rates of nitrification and denitrification occurring at different geomorphic interfaces along a 200 year chronosequence. This information, coupled with GIS, will then be used to construct a catchment wide estimation of these processes with particular reference to Nitrous Oxide emissions.
