"The University and course have benefited me by improving my researching, leadership, teamwork, and time management abilities. The course has also given me a global perspective regarding occupational health, safety and environmental issues through the use of guest speakers."
Can you give a short outline of the course you study at the University of Birmingham?
In the Science of Occupational Health, Safety and the Environment (SHE) course, I have learned about environmental protection through sampling and analysis, incident management with the use of guidelines and regulations, as well as assessment of hazards in the workplace, and how to manage said hazards. The research methods component of my course involved the development and execution of a research project by a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approach.
What made you to decide to study at the University of Birmingham rather than in your home country?
The decision to come to Birmingham was based on the fact that the SHE course offered modules with both theory-based and hands-on methods for learning. The length of the program was also a deciding factor as it is only one year. Although the intensity throughout the year was high, it inherently improves time management and researching abilities.
