Tell us about the course you studied at Birmingham
I studied the Air Pollution Management and Control MSc part-time whilst working at Exova Catalyst as a Regional Manager involved in stack emissions testing. The course was ideally constructed to expand my knowledge in an area of professional and personal interest. It has helped me to work on more complex project with my clients, and, with the addition of the Sir Oliver Lodge prize, allowed us to promote our business.
How did going to University benefit you?
It expanded my knowledge and appreciation for complex areas of dioxins and furans control and formation. Being awarded the Sir Oliver Lodge prize has boosted my professional career and enabled me to provide an extra level of detail and understanding to my clients needs.
How did you find campus life?
The working environment was very enriching and relaxing, I especially enjoyed the 'green' nature of the campus.
Any tips or words of wisdom that you would like to pass on to other students thinking of coming to study here?
If you expect hard work, interesting challenges, and enormously rewarding outcomes then this is the place for you.
What are your future career aspirations?
To move back to NZ eventually and setup a satellite office for Exova.
