This course teaches a range of statistical techniques that are used extensively across the physical and social sciences.
- Regardless of the subject area, the stages involved in the analysis of any data set are similar. These stages usually entail the description of the data in terms of its central tendency and variability; the testing of differences and associations between samples; and the modelling of relationships
- The use of the SPSS computer package
- Numerical skills: the exercises in weeks 1-6 will test a student’s ability to conduct statistical tests by hand by using a calculator, a pen and a sheet of paper.
