The MOSAIC Group for Research on Multilingualism

The MOSAIC Group for Research on Multilingualism was first established in 2008 to provide a forum for the development of new, interdisciplinary lines of enquiry related to bilingualism/multilingualism, multilingual literacy, bilingual education, second language learning and contemporary discourses about linguistic and cultural diversity.

A Message from the Director of MOSAIC

Birmingham is one of the most fascinating cities in Europe for its diversity, multiculturalism and of course, its multilingualism. This group has been founded on cutting-edge research into multilingualism and in relating language to broader social issues. It is this ethos of local engagement with complex historical legacies and relating multilingualism to global issues which makes MOSAIC unique. I am honoured to be the custodian of this group, as the director, and welcome all those with similar interests and values.
