DOMUS Seminar Series 2024-2025

Show and Tell: Display of documents from the history of the School of Education to mark UoB125

Dr Helen Fisher, University Archivist, Cadbury Research Library, University of Birmingham

As we look towards the University of Birmingham's 125th anniversary, Domus will join Dr Helen Fisher of the Cadbury Research Library to explore a selection of historical documents and photographs from the University's archives relating to the history of the School of Education and its predecessors.

Education has a long history at Birmingham, predating the foundation of the University. Female students from the Birmingham Day Training College for Elementary Teachers attended lectures at Mason College from 1890. In 1894 the Training College was incorporated into the department of education at Mason College which was absorbed into the new civic University in 1900.

This event is limited to 20 people, therefore registration is essential, so please book early to secure a place. Please arrive promptly.

This event is free and open to the all staff, students and public.
