Dame Alison Peacock

We are pleased to announce that the speaker at the 2017 Priestley Lecture will be Professor Dame Alison Margaret Peacock.

Biography

Professor Dame Alison Margaret Peacock, DBE, DL, DLitt, FRSA, MEd, BA is a British educator, columnist, and a co-author of Creating Learning without Limits. Dame Alison is the inaugural Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, taking up the post full time in January 2017. She is a trustee of Teach First, the Open Futures Trust, and the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. She is also a member of the Headteacher Board for the North West London and South Central Regional Schools Commissioner. She serves as the Executive Headteacher of Wroxham Teaching School, and is a columnist for The Times Educational Supplement.

Sir Raymond Priestley was the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Birmingham from 1938 to 1952. He was a great supporter of the education of teachers and in 1959 it was decided to name this annual lecture after him.
