We are the maids,
the ones you failed,
the ones you killed.
The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood.
Directed by Jo Gleave
Penelope- a symbol of wifely devotion , endures twenty years of waiting when her husband Odysseus goes to fight in the Trojan war. When he finally does return home he kills her suitors and then, in an act that served as little more than a footnote in Homer's original story, ruthlessly hangs Penelope's twelve maids. Now Penelope and her chorus of wronged maids tell their side of the story. Adapted from Margaret Attwood’s novel of the same name.
