New MSc in Restorative Dentistry launched last year
Following the opening of our state of the art Dental School in 2016, the College of Medical and Dental Sciences is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new Master of Science degree in Restorative Dentistry.
This two-year distance learning MSc programme commenced in September 2017 and provides advanced training in the subjects most commonly carried out in clinical practice:
- Direct restorations
- Periodontics
- Endodontics
- Fixed & removable prosthodontics
The course is designed to fit into busy GDPs’ schedules and has a very high percentage of practical content, combining clinical work with a unique programme of step-by-step simulation exercises, which students will carry out on specialised pre-prepared models.
The School of Dentistry is an acknowledged world leader in innovative online dental education and this new blended learning course comprises progressive (Certificate, Diploma and MSc) advanced level study over seven modules:
- Modules 1 and 2 are designed by a team of international experts to introduce the latest evidence-based principles that form the foundation for contemporary restorative care
- Modules 3, 4, 5 & 6 are almost entirely practical, consisting of structured simulation and clinical exercises carried out in practice and at two week-long residential courses
- Module 7 allows students to compile a clinical portfolio and carry out focused study on a restorative subject of personal interest
Studying for the new MSc in Restorative Dentistry aims to significantly enhance the quality, predictability and enjoyment in carrying out restorative procedures for a wide range of clinical conditions.
