Practical Chemistry II
Building on the skills developed in the Year 1 practical modules, Year 2 focuses on transitioning you from performing experiments following a series of instructions to a place where you can begin designing experiments from scratch.
Alongside this, you will also be taught advanced practical skills, such as how to handle air-sensitive materials. In the second Semester of Year 2, the practical modules begin to fully focus on research-type experiments inspired by the research Themes of Energy, Sustainability and Health at Birmingham.
Working either in a team or individually, students will design and perform their own experiments to answer key questions such as determining the mechanism of reactions.
