Practical Chemistry
The ability to manipulate chemicals in a laboratory, to work accurately and precisely, to analyse and interpret results, and to present results are all vital skill for chemists.
These practical modules take place in our state-of-the art Collaborative Teaching Laboratories and will equip you with a wide range practical and analytical skills, preparing you for future challenges you will face in the labs and beyond. You will also be shown how to begin planning and designing your own experiments.
Outside of the lab, you will work in groups to analyse and interpret spectroscopic data, such as NMR spectra, in order to elucidate the structure of unknown compounds. Your experiments will reflect our research Themes in Energy, Sustainability and Health.
