- Location
- Room G03 University House
- Dates
- Thursday 23 May 2019 (12:30-14:00)
This event is hosted by the Department of Strategy & International Business in Birmingham Business School and will be delivered by Suzana B. Rodrigues, Emeritus Professor of International Business and Organization at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and Visiting Professor at Loughborough University, London.
Professor Rodrigues will review the evolution of the literature on misbehavior by multinational enterprises − the different concepts, perspectives and contributions offered by relevant disciplines. Misbehavior refers to socially unacceptable behavior by multinationals, some of which is immoral, unethical, and even illegal. She will then examine recent examples of irresponsible behaviour by EMNEs. Drawing from other disciplines not traditionally considered in the international business literature, such as political sciences, legal studies and ethics, can enlarge its theoretical scope. The seminar will consider how unconventional bridges across disciplines can both advance our understanding of this important topic and enlighten conventional theories of the multinational enterprise.
