Jessica Bula|4 year BBSRC-funded PhD student on the MIBTP programme

What is your current role?

I am currently a 4 year BBSRC-funded PhD student on the MIBTP programme studying the interactome of the E2 Ubiquitin-Conjugating enzyme, UbcH10 and its relationship with the Anaphase Promoting Complex/Cyclosome, an E3 Ubiquitin-Ligase.

My typical week involves lots of lab work followed by data analysis and write up of my findings. In between this, I stay up to date with current literature and attend seminars within the Department of Cancer and Genomics.

The thing I enjoy the most about being a PhD student is being surrounded by people who love research as much as I do every day. There is never a day that you haven’t learned something new.

How has your Biomedical Science degree helped you in your current role?

The Biomedical Science programme helped me massively. The lab I completed my dissertation work in is the lab that I work in now. I had a huge amount of support when making PhD applications which payed off!
