This two day event is a seminar on the Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) from Hitachi. It is suitable for UK nuclear academics, industrialists, and students alike. Speakers include a number of Hitachi's own experts and specialists in ABWRs and the various aspects of its technology.
Some key areas covered by the Hitachi experts in this particular seminar include Core and Fuel Design, Safety Analysis and Modelling, and Rad Waste issues. High profile guest speakers include:
- Dame Sue Ion speaking about the future of nuclear power in the UK.
- Dr Mike Weightman the former chief inspector of the ONR speaking about the UK's response to, and lessons learned from, the Fukushima nuclear incident.
- Dr Ming Ang from Horizon Nuclear Power, providing an update on the status of Horizon's plans for new build of ABWRs at the New Wylfa site.
