Collaborative partnerships with regional stakeholders

The West Midlands Regional Economic Development Institute (WMREDI) will be a catalyst for a step-change in regional collaboration. 

Alongside funding from UKRI’s Research England and the matching funds from the University of Birmingham, we have secured matched funding from the leading regional stakeholders involved in planning and delivering growth policies. Key partners, providing matched funding, are:

• West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA)
• GBS Chamber of Commerce
• West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC)
• Aston University
  • The Enterprise Research Centre (ERC)
  • Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME)
  • Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Business Prosperity
• Birmingham City University (BCU)

Other partners include:

• Birmingham City Council, City of Wolverhampton Council, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Walsall Council. 
• The Midlands Engine and Transport for West Midlands
• Coventry University and the University of Wolverhampton.

We will dedicate this new collaborative space to co-locate secondments from these stakeholders, provide policy workshops and training programmes and engage national partners in WMREDI. This will enable better policy insights through collaborative research and new channels for knowledge exchange to help to rebalance the UK economy and create inclusive local economies.
