Professor Paolo Missier is Professor of Computer and Data Science in the School of Computer Science, specialising in Data and Knowledge management, Data Science and Engineering, with applications mainly to the Health domain. His current research covers two main themes; Improving Data Science to improve Science and Addressing the challenges of Health Data Engineering and Data Science at scale for participatory, preventative, personalised care.

Our academic experts

The University of Birmingham is home to more than 140 data science and AI experts who are working together to address important challenges in areas such as sustainability, equality, health, and data-driven science. This group of interdisciplinary researchers bring together expertise in modelling, statistics, machine learning, linguistics, optimisation, behavioural sciences, ethics, law, and many other fields to advance data science and AI technologies, apply them in a broad range of applications, and understand their legal and ethical implications.
