The University Hospitals Birmingham Endocrine Department offers specialist care and treatment for patients with complex endocrine conditions, seeing over 2000 new patients a year. We have a dedicated endocrine investigation unit.
For endocrine tumours, which are rare and sometimes very rare, we see and treat approximately 1000 new cases per year, including benign tumours and endocrine cancers. All cases are discussed in our multi-disciplinary team meetings, incorporating clinical expertise with the use of state-of-the-art facilities. The multi-disciplinary team includes endocrinologists, dedicated surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, biochemists, geneticists and specialist endocrine nurses.
The ethos of the department is to deliver consultant-led care in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Our department has helped pioneer new diagnostic tools and treatments in endocrinology. Our reputation for clinical expertise is such that we accept referrals from across the UK, and we strive to offer every patient the best treatment available.
