Aggressive Research Intelligence Facility (ARIF)
Advancing the use of evidence on the effects of health care in the West Midlands (ARIF): 1996-2018
ARIF was a specialist unit set up in 1996 and based at the University of Birmingham. It's aim was to improve the incorporation of research findings into health care decision making in the NHS in the West Midlands.
ARIF provided a request service providing responsive evidence synthesis reports on topics of interest. (1996-2011). These reports undertaken by ARIF are highly likely to no longer be current given the likelihood of more recent research being undertaken. For this reason, reports are no-longer available and more recent assessments of research evidence should be sought or new ones undertaken.
In addition, ARIF provided a database of systematic reviews of effectiveness of healthcare interventions, diagnostics and observational studies (called the ARIF Reviews database) and a database containing records on studies of systematic review methodology (called the ARIF Methodology Database). These databases continued to be updated until June 2018. The databases continued to be available until 2022 but have now been withdrawn.
