Professor Wenjun Xu
Prof. Wenjun Xu, Professor, School of Information Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology, China
Hosted by Professor Duc Truong Pham, Chance Professor of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering.
Professor Xu has been involved in research at the interface between manufacturing and informatics for more than ten years. He has made seminal contributions to three areas of modern manufacturing, including robotic remanufacturing and human-robot collaboration, cloud manufacturing and energy-efficient manufacturing, industrial Internet of Things and Quality of Service assurance of manufacturing networks. His contributions have received recognition through key awards such as Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) in 2018, Distinguished Young Investigator Award from the IEEE SMC Society Technical Committee on Enterprise Information Systems in 2017, etc.
Professor Xu's visit will advance the interdisciplinary area of manufacturing and mechanical engineering, and particular provide opportunities for colleagues to benefit from his methodological and practical expertise and skills in human-robot collaboration for remanufacturing. His visit will explore opportunities for international collaborative research in manufacturing informatics with the researchers from the University of Birmingham.
During his visit Prof Xu will be giving an IAS public lecture.
