Dr Sydney Calkin, Durham University
Dr Sydney Calkin, Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Geography, Durham University.
Hosted by Fiona de Londras, Professor of Global Legal Studies, Birmingham Law School.
Dr Calkin is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in Geography at Durham. She is a feminist political geographer whose research examines reproductive rights around the world.
The fellowship will focus on abortion law in Ireland which is a strong research area in Birmingham Law School (BLS). The visit is an opportunity to widen that engagement in and beyond BLS through a period of intensive collaboration with a geographer on gender, borders, and trans-national legal regimes that govern reproduction.
If you would like full details of the plans for Dr Calkin’s fellowship or would like to meet with her during her visit as an Institute of Advanced Studies Vanguard Fellow, please contact Sue Gilligan.
