Masked Boobies, Ascension Island, by Lucy Garrett.
“My image is an original linocut which I created after two weeks of field work on Ascension Island. Ascension is a fantastic place for seabirds and is home to several large colonies that use the island to breed.”
"I visited Ascension with the Army Ornithological Society (AOS), who have been monitoring the seabirds there for over 20 years.
My research focuses on the social structure of seabird colonies, so who is connected to who. I feel this image sums up my work, as it depicts what I hope to achieve – an understanding of the functioning of seabird colonies, and how we can use this for their management and conservation."
